Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI)

Provide shipment instructions to your forwarder and, where applicable, authorize TradeReady to file EEI.

What the SLI covers

  • Identifies USPPI/shipper, consignee(s), and routing preferences.
  • Captures destination, mode, port, date, Incoterms, and carrier.
  • Lists commodity lines with Schedule B/HTS, quantity, value, and license/ECCN (if required).
  • Includes authorization to file EEI and receive the ITN.

Who completes & when

  • Standard (non-routed): completed by the USPPI (exporter).
  • Routed export: include FPPI authorization; FPPI (or U.S. agent) authorizes the filer.
Keep a signed SLI (and related records) for 5 years from date of export.
